Social Web Branding Not Influencing Women
Women are not connecting with branding and advertisement found on social media networks. While women are the heaviest users and are most exposed to these advertisements they have far lower successful conversions and brand recognition. For some reason these ads are unsuccessful at influencing their purchasing behavior.
This smells like market opportunity: one of the greatest segments of the social media audience or market is yet to be efficiently tapped.
Women are using these sites all of the time. However they are not very interested in the ads because information is just not enough. There has to be some direct personal relevancy it cannot just piggy back on another relationship.
Where success is most likely to be found is in integrating tools for women to use to make even more personal interaction with others. A good idea for nike would be to make a search for sport friends. You like running here is a list of others who share your interest in your area and yeah were having a local event!
After some statistical analysis here are some things we know:
"Women use the tools of the social web to be social, and that’s where brands need to find ways to interact with them. Simply providing information isn’t enough."
